Plaster or steel — which bookend suits my shelf?
Seven of our eight designs are solid plaster — busts, columns, and abstract forms that lean sculptural and suit traditional, classical, or art-leaning shelves. The one X-shaped steel pair is hand-forged for modern, minimalist rooms. Both hold books equally well; the choice is about the room.
What designs are in the collection?
Three families. Classical busts — Homer, Aristotle, the Homer + Aristotle pair, Buddha hands, and anatomy ears. Architectural — neoclassical columns and the steel pair. And a sculptural abstract plaster pair.
Which bookends make the best gift?
The Homer + Aristotle pair and the Buddha hands are the designs people most often come back to say arrived exactly as photographed. Pair any design with a handmade metal bookmark for a complete reader's gift.
Do they actually hold books up, or are they just decorative?
Both. Each design starts as a miniature sculpture but is weighted and finished to hold a real shelf of books in place — not a token ornament that slides under the first heavy volume. The plaster pieces are solid-cast; the steel pair is hand-forged for rigidity.
How are they made, and how do I care for them?
Cast, forged, and finished by hand in our Cherkasy, Ukraine workshop — no factory subcontracting. Plaster pieces use natural plaster with an eco-friendly coating; dust gently with a dry cloth and keep them away from water and humidity. Standard pieces ship in 2–3 days, with worldwide delivery in 10–12 days and 14-day returns.
