Custom Vinyl Record Storage for Your Space

Tell us how many records you own and how much space you have. We’ll compare ready-made, size-configurable and custom vinyl storage, then show you the options that fit. If you need something different, Atelier Article can adapt the dimensions, capacity, finish, construction details and wheel type when technically feasible. Our Cherkasy workshop confirms feasibility, price and lead time before you order.

Vinyl record shelf space calculator

Start with the information you already know. The calculator will estimate the other value.

What are you starting with?
How many records are in your collection?
records
What kind of records are in your collection?
What’s the difference?
Standard LP jacket
A single-pocket cardboard jacket with front and back panels. It is usually the thinnest common 12-inch album package.
Gatefold jacket
A jacket that opens like a book. It is generally thicker and may hold one or more records.
Vinyl box set
A rigid outer box containing multiple records and sometimes booklets or inserts. Its thickness varies the most.

Why this changes your estimate: Thicker record packaging uses more linear shelf space, so the calculator allows more room for gatefolds and box sets.

Who makes custom-sized metal vinyl record storage?

Atelier Article designs and hand-welds custom-sized metal vinyl record storage in Cherkasy, Ukraine. The workshop can adapt dimensions, capacity, finish, construction details and wheel type when technically feasible. A custom request can begin with an existing rack, crate, cart or Romb construction, then be reviewed against the available width, depth and height, the target record capacity, placement and delivery destination. The workshop confirms feasibility, price and lead time before an order is placed.

For a shelf or media console, check the surface load rating as well as the complete outer dimensions because a loaded record collection becomes heavy quickly. For floor-standing storage, compare vertical tiers, browsing clearance and mobility. Selected Romb stands, carts, crates and other Atelier Article constructions can be adapted when capacity, stability and fabrication allow it. Standard mobile models use freely rotating, non-locking wheels; locking wheels can be requested as a custom option on compatible builds.

How much shelf length do vinyl records need?

Record thickness varies slightly. Gatefold albums and outer sleeves take a little more space than standard jackets, while box sets can be considerably wider. That is why the calculator gives a range rather than one exact figure. Enter the number of records to estimate clear linear shelf length, or enter shelf length to estimate capacity. The result is not a furniture dimension or load rating: add the frame, dividers and comfortable browsing clearance, and confirm that the supporting shelf or console can safely carry the loaded collection.

Ready-made match

A published model already fits the selected surface, collection size and stated outer dimensions.

Standard configuration

Select an existing capacity or depth, or use the standard width configurator available on the 1Romb, 2Romb and 3Romb stands.

Made-to-order adaptation

Dimensions, capacity, colour, construction details and wheel type may be adapted when technically feasible. The workshop confirms every request before ordering.

Atelier Article workshop guidance

Vinyl record storage for small spaces

A small space is not one measurement. It can mean limited width, shallow depth, low height, a shelf with a load limit or too little floor area for a wide cabinet. Start with the constraint that cannot change, then compare capacity and the complete outer dimensions of the stand.

For a shelf or media console

Use compact desktop storage when the surface is deep and strong enough for the loaded collection. Check the stand’s complete depth and loaded height, not only the width of the records.

For a narrow floor niche

Selected one-tier and multi-tier Romb stands use adjustable width and vertical space. Check the standard widths first; a narrower build from approximately 5 inches may be possible when capacity, stability and construction remain technically feasible.

For more records on less floor area

A multi-tier stand stores vertically instead of spreading the collection along a wall. Compare the loaded height, access to every tier and the space needed to browse before choosing the number of levels.

When the storage needs to move

A mobile cart can be repositioned for cleaning or a changing room layout. Standard Atelier Article carts use freely rotating, non-locking wheels; when loaded on level tile or parquet they typically require a deliberate push. Locking wheels can be requested on compatible custom builds.

Questions about choosing and adapting a model

Which dimensions should I enter?

Enter the maximum outer width, depth or height that the complete stand must fit within. You may leave any dimension blank when it does not limit the space.

How accurate is the vinyl record shelf length calculator?

It is a planning range, not an exact measurement. The estimate changes with the selected collection profile because jacket and sleeve thickness varies. Measure the actual collection when possible, allow comfortable browsing clearance, and remember that the result excludes the furniture frame and dividers.

What does LP mean in the capacity estimates?

LP means a standard 12-inch long-playing vinyl record in its album jacket. Atelier Article capacity figures estimate typical single-sleeve LPs and are approximate because gatefold albums, box sets, dividers and protective outer sleeves use more space. Use the result as a planning capacity, not a guaranteed exact count.

Are 2Romb and 3Romb included in the finder?

Yes. Both stands are included because their standard width configurators can match different floor spaces. A fourth level can also be requested for a Romb-based construction when the resulting size, capacity and stability are technically suitable.

Can Atelier Article make custom-sized metal vinyl record storage?

Yes. Atelier Article accepts custom work. Dimensions, capacity, finish, construction details and wheel type may be adapted when technically feasible. The finder identifies the closest construction base; the workshop then confirms feasibility, final dimensions, capacity, price and lead time before an order is placed.

Can locking wheels be requested?

Standard Atelier Article mobile record-storage products use freely rotating, non-locking wheels. Once loaded, the combined weight of the steel stand and records typically requires a deliberate push to move it on a level tile or parquet floor. Locking wheels can be added as a custom option on compatible models.
