Dmitry Olshevskiy, founder of Atelier Article, in the studio

Founder & Lead Craftsman, Atelier Article

Dmitry founded Atelier Article in 2011 with one conviction: useful objects deserve to be beautiful. Working from a steel workshop in Cherkasy, Ukraine, with his wife Olena and a team of five craftspeople, he leads the design and fabrication of every piece — from steel bookends to vinyl record carts — each built by hand over four to seven days.

The craft behind the work

Dmitry’s approach rejects industrial shortcuts. Every piece starts as raw steel and moves through cutting, welding, grinding, and finishing before leaving the studio. The result is objects with heft, texture, and visible craft — things that age with character rather than fall apart.

His work spans functional desk accessories — bookends, bookmarks, letter holders — home decor pieces, and the vinyl community’s favorite: a heavy-gauge steel record cart that holds 240 LPs, built for collectors who take their storage as seriously as their records.

Writing about handmade craft

Customers ask the same questions: how to care for steel, how a piece is made, what makes handmade worth the price. The Atelier Article blog is where Dmitry answers them properly — materials, metalworking, care, and the thinking behind each design. Everything here comes from fifteen years at the workbench, not trend reports.
