A round log holder with a kindling shelf on top — a steel ring in two sizes, 29.5 in or 39.4 in across

The ring holds the logs; the solid steel shelf across the top keeps kindling, fire starters and gloves off the floor. Owners call it “the hoop” and “our wood storage ring”. Hand-welded in the Atelier Article workshop in Cherkasy, Ukraine, black powder coat.

What it holds

Small (29.5 in): “a few bundles of firewood by the front door”, “a day's worth of oak” for a family that fills it before dinner. Large (39.4 in): the size to choose if a wood stove is your main heat — several Small-size owners wrote that they wished they had gone bigger. If you heat the house with wood, keep the main supply elsewhere; this is the stack beside the fire, not the woodshed.

The ring is 10.6 in (27 cm) deep. Standard 16-inch US firewood rests through it and shows a few inches on each side, as in the photos. Logs cut shorter than about 9 in can slip through the open sides of the ring — two owners mention it — so if your wood is cut short, choose a model with a closed base such as the Tall Iron Log Holder.

Dimensions and tube

• Small: 29.5 in high × 29.5 in wide × 10.6 in deep (75 × 75 × 27 cm) — ships welded in one piece
• Large: 39.4 in high × 39.4 in wide × 10.6 in deep (100 × 100 × 27 cm) — ships in two sections and joins with four screws and a hex key, both included; the only model in the range that needs any assembly
• Frame: 10 × 10 mm square steel tube, hand-welded
• Shelf: solid steel plate
• Finish: black powder coat

The frame is 10 × 10 mm (⅜ in) square steel tube, hand-welded. It is slimmer than most hearth furniture and lighter than it looks — reviewers say “lighter than expected” and “sturdy” in the same sentence — so it moves easily for cleaning and does not overpower a small room.

Feet and floors

Four legs with plastic pads, so the steel does not sit directly on wood or tile. On an uneven stone hearth, a felt pad under one leg levels it.

Indoor or outdoor?

Made for indoor use next to a fireplace or wood stove. Several owners keep one on a covered porch or patio; if you do, spray the frame with a wax protectant once a season so the powder coat lasts.
